This is a great idea!! And the council and local's can set up stall's and mini shops to get the money. It can be a lovely free space for your kid to hang out and enjoy themselves without parents!

It would be necessary to apply for grants. For information: Pennarc Community Council are responsible for the playground facilities and Playing Field so it is not in the hands of Swansea Council

Brilliant idea. Our youth really would benefit from structured workshops and activities and us parents need somewhere to get coffee while the kids use the recreation ground! Tying it in with a new library and meeting space would make it a very vibrant, attractive hub to visit!

Pennard Puddle is a busy little pool, used by all pupils in the school and by many in the wider community through Poseidon swim school. Both my children learnt there and I hope it will still be around for their children. It needs modernisation desperately. I strongly support this project.

My daughter is a wheelchair user and it is very difficult for her to navigate around without a great deal of help - which is not great for her independence. With an aged population more appropriate access around the village would allow adults with failing physical health to retain their independence.

This will be a great way for the children to keep fit and have fun outdoors with their friends! They get complained at for skating in the streets and I think this makes them feel like lesser community members. Sports like skating will give them more confidence and more chance to improve on the activity they love.

I support a skate park in Pennard. I would also encourage other children and young adults to ask for more play areas in and around Gower. There aren't enough play areas for kids in the villages. Good luck!

I think that a skate park is a really good idea for this community. There is a lot of people who skate, including my brother and I know for sure it would get a lotof use and be greatly appreciated. Skateboarding changed my life. It helped combine creativity, vitality and friendship. It has provided me a career for the last 15 years and allowed me to travel the world. It gave me the skills and connections to launch my own business and is a constant conversation kick starter. Well done these young men and ladies for organising themselves to create their dreams. They are a credit to their community and generation in a time when society needs positive role models. I hope the community can find a way to support their youth who they should be hugely proud of. I hope this happens.

This is a great idea. Skating is an energetic & exciting activity for young kids. It gets them outside and exercising in an area where there is not a great choice of things for them to do, and once they have the board, it is free. If the kids can play a part in its design it'll help encourage them to keep it looked after too, as well as just giving them the experience of being part of a successful and positive community project. Excellent.

It would be great to have a purpose built area that doesn’t involve walking over grass to get to. It will be well used and maintained by all. That area has a high footfall so everyone will be looking out for its maintenance and upkeep. It’s perfect for all ages too!

Good idea. There isn't anywhere safe for them to skate and it is such a cool and healthy sport. At Exist it is like one big happy family, old kids hanging out with young kids. The only other place they can skate is on the road or at the surgery and that is dangerous

The Community Council has allocated a space 20X12M in front of the pavialllion. This means it is more accessible and avoids it being a gathering point for non-skating/scooting/biking youngsters as the miniramp was when it was tucked away in the corner. More detailed plans will be provided in due course, but nothing that is currently in the field will be negatively affected.

The old ramp wasn't suitable for all ages of skaters and abilities, the new skatepark ideas look much better and would be usable by younger pre school scooter users during the school day aswell as the older skaters later in the day. Skating is an excellent outdoor activity to develop balance, co-ordination, perseverance, respect and camaraderie. The skills developed also transfer to other outdoor activities such as surfing and snowboarding, therefore supporting skills for life.

My sons live in pennard and love skating. They woukd love to have, use and help maintain a skatepark. Children need good outdoor facilites to encourage an active lifestyle. Lets make it happen!!

Great idea - have boys who skate and are desperate for somewhere in pennard to skate- they get thrown out of the surgery car park. They wants curbs/rails/steps etc not a ramp in the far corner of the field

I would like to say yes to this, or at least in part. Skating area up the playing field would be good, but this has been tried and I believe it was removed, as it was so far from the entrances and abused by the youth.

The ramp was made of wood so the weather did the damage and it was removed as it was a danger to the people who used it

Gower's starry night skies are a special treat. And it's not just nice to look at either - studies have shown that it is important for wildlife, good for our health, and good for local tourism. The Gower AONB Partnership (the elected advisory group which helps manage the AONB) has discussed a report about Gower's Dark Skies, and about a possible Dark Sky designation. Maybe you saw the recent press articles on this - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-south-west-wales-43576560 ? What do you think about Gower becoming a Dark Sky Community?

I'm curious why you would say that when there are clear benefits to the local economy from dark sky tourism. This could have massive benefits to Gower tourism businesses over the less popular Winter months when the sky is at its most dark.
